India’s next generation of badminton stars is on the rise once again, as Siddharth and Amolika emerged victorious at the Uttar Pradesh State Badminton Championships 2025, held in Lucknow. Both players displayed exceptional skill, mental strength, and maturity beyond their years to clinch the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively, reaffirming India’s strong future in the sport.
In the men’s singles final, Siddharth stunned top seed Aditya Verma with a composed and tactical performance, winning 21-17, 21-19 in straight games. Known for his powerful smashes and calm under pressure, Siddharth controlled the rallies beautifully, mixing aggression with patience. His ability to read Verma’s game and adjust mid-match proved crucial in securing the title.
“I focused on playing point by point and not thinking about the score,” Siddharth said after his win. “Aditya is a tough opponent, but I just wanted to stay aggressive and trust my training.”
Meanwhile, in the women’s singles final, Amolika dominated from start to finish, defeating Ritika Sharma 21-15, 21-13. Her footwork, sharp net play, and precise placement left Ritika struggling to find rhythm. The young champion, who has been training at the Lucknow Sports Academy, has steadily risen through the junior ranks, and this title marks her breakthrough moment at the senior state level.
“I’ve been working hard on my fitness and consistency,” said Amolika after her victory. “Winning this title means a lot, and it motivates me to aim for national-level tournaments next.”
Coaches and officials praised both players for their performances, emphasizing that their success highlights the strength of India’s growing grassroots badminton system. “These youngsters are the result of years of structured training and exposure at the junior level,” said state coach Rajesh Sharma. “If they continue with this attitude, they can soon compete at national and international levels.”
With Indian badminton currently producing global stars like PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, and HS Prannoy, the emergence of talents like Siddharth and Amolika shows that the future remains bright. Their victories in Lucknow are not just about medals, they are a statement that India’s next badminton chapter is already being written.
